Real‑time 3D for the Game Boy and Game Boy Color.
CGB3D is a software 3D engine and a browser editor. The rasterizer is hand-written assembly. Your game is data you author in the editor and ship as a real ROM: one cart that plays on a Game Boy Color, a Game Boy or a Game Boy Pocket.
Development build a1d148b, 1 November 2026.
Make the game in the editor. The engine plays it.
No engine code to write for a new game. Rooms, cameras, characters, title screens and the flow between them are all authored in the browser and exported as data the ROM reads.
Author
Lay out rooms and fixed cameras, import models and pre-rendered backgrounds, paint palettes.
Connect
Wire title, menus and scenes together in the screen graph. Or ask the Claude Assistant to do it with you.
Build and play
One click compiles the ROM and launches it in the emulator, in colour or as a Game Boy. The same file runs on real hardware.
Built for the hardware.
Every cycle on the hot path is accounted for. The C layer only orchestrates.
